Nana's Monarch
This piece is made in memory of my nana. She passed on 4/18/25 at the age of 89 years old. She was the most beautiful woman you would ever meet. She was kind, caring, and the human embodiment of God’s love. She was an angel residing on earth and now she proudly wears her wings. I love her more than anything.
7 months before she passed she stayed in a nursing home where her, my papaw, and I would go outside and look at flowers and watch the monarch butterflies fly from flower to flower. They were there every time. My nana was soft and elegant the way a butterfly is. The way they move so gracefully about. Quiet, yet noticeable. That was my nana. She made everyone smile and made everyone feel important and special. On the background of this painting you will see facts about the monarch. I did this for my papaw. My nana and papaw were married 68 years. They love each other with a uniquely impossible love. My nana looked at my papaw with stars in her eyes in every moment. It was like she fell in love with him more and more every day. He visited her everyday in the nursing home and made sure she felt remembered and cared for. This painting combines 2 things that make a perfect whole. The way my nana and my papaw make one perfect whole. This piece is near and dear to my heart. I can hear my nana telling me how much she loves is, as she did with everything I made her. Even if it was not beautiful. She thought it was. My nana was made of only love. And I will always feel her love with my even though she has passed on. I will miss her forever but she will always be apart of me.
Thank you for reading and I hope this reached. Have a beautiful and blessed day.
